LIVESTOCK PICK - NIKE AIR STAB ARIES EDITION
JULY 28, 2008

The Livestock Pick is intended to showcase what we think is the best shoe on the wall at Livestock in Vancouver, Canada at any given time. We pop in randomly every month or so, grab our favorite pair of sneakers, take a photo of them and post 'em here for you to enjoy.

This edition of the LP focuses on this womens' Air Stab which I grabbed in a size and a half larger so they fit onto my manfeet. They came out a couple months back and the theme is kinda really super not-at-all inclusive; it focuses on the astrological sign, Aries, and it even comes with a little chart and stuff. Now I'm a Virgo, and my Virgoliness gives me practical analytical abilities that are second to none. My razor-like thinking is highly effective in separating the useful wheat from the unneeded chafe, the good from the bad. So the verdict is that the astrological tie-in for this particular pair of shoes is ridiculous in that it leaves out the 91.6% of the poluation who aren't Aries, and every time I slip these onto my feet I am reminded of my un-Aries status... but the colorway is bangin' enough that I can overlook that singular downfall. Razor-like.

THE LFOP
JULY 24, 2008

You pretty much have to visit America's Greatest Heroes™, the Little Friends Of Printmaking online store and have a look around. They do the raddest screenprints. Here's what they have to say about themselves:

The Little Friends of Printmaking are a husband-and-wife team of silkscreen artists living and working in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Emerging onto an already crowded poster art scene in early 2003, The Little Friends quickly established themselves as an indispensable new talent. They are best known for the interplay of layers in their prints, and a playful looseness that leads the viewer to consider the process by which the image was created. This notion is central to their work-- as commercial screenprinting becomes practically obsolete, the Little Friends do their part to demystify the process and re-affirm the qualities that make screenprints desirable and unique among works on paper.

ALTAMONT PRESENTS RICKY POWELL'S SLIDE SHOW
JULY 13, 2008

This is pretty self explanatory, right? If it's not...

"Ricky Powell, also known as The Rickster, has seen a lot of history. He has worked as a busboy, bike messenger, Frozade vendor, substitute teacher, columnist, cable television host, comic and dog walker. But, he is best-known as a wisecracking, self-described "playground rat" who used his beat-up Minolta and party-crashing skills to become a nightlife fixture and a chronicler of the then-exploding world of hip-hop." - New York Times
