Fresh off his 2007 solo show at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, celebrated artist and graphic designer Cody Hudson's new book, "Save My Life", is out now (published by Fifty24SF Gallery). “Save My Life”, is a collection of graphic design, drawings, paintings, prints and photographs of street installation work that Hudson has produced over the past few years. This book includes recent work that explores the concepts of both eupohoria and impending doom. Hudson's drawings and paintings have never failed to evoke powerful responses from viewers: whether it’s laughter at a conversation between two dots, recognition of a song lyric written inside of a hot air balloon, or brief bursts of color in random but somehow familiar shapes, his body of work has become simultaneously complex and accessible and speaks to the spectrum of human emotion. Save my Life focuses on every aspect of Hudson’s prolific career, including design work, painting, printmaking and sculptural installation. "Save My Life" was published by Fift24SF gallery in conjunction with solo art shows of the same name in both their San Francisco and Portland galleries.
Hudson is a Chicago-based artist, also known for his commercial art and graphic design work under the name, “Struggle Inc.” Known for the production of clean, multi-dimensional graphics, his design aesthetic is part urban modernism, and part organic visual deconstruction. His graphic work and paintings have been exhibited throughout the US, Europe and Japan including the Museum of Contemporary Art (Chicago), Rocket Gallery (Tokyo), The Reed Space (NYC), The Lazy Dog (Paris), & Bucket Rider Gallery (Chicago). Cody’s work has been featured in numerous magazines and publications including idN, Arkitip, Anthem & Juxtapoz. |
