WORDS:
KRONBAUER
Not only is Rob
Abeyta, Jr. a picture of balance as a human being, he's also a true
example of an art director's art director. He's a dude that you can
look to for inspiration on how to have a career in art without
compromising an ounce of your integrity and his work has consistently
(and quite succesfully) blurred the line between commercial and fine
art. From his past work for the Girl Skateboard companies to his
current projects with Estevan Oriol and Mister Cartoon (and everything
in between including Nike, Stussy and more), what he puts into his
work, and what comes out when you view it is raw Rob Abeyta, Jr.
His new book,
published by Upper Playground and entitled "Compliments Of...", shines
with flavor. It's a six-chapter-long look at some of his work,
inspirations, and concepts that he's been exploring. "It's a book about
my work and how I arrive there, [with] very little writing, so [it's] a
lot of art.".
