WORDS:
ALEX KLEIN
Mike O’Meally
claims to reside in Los Angeles though he’s just as likely to be found
in Manhattan or Malaga or Maroubra. He’s a competent world traveler and
not only to places that start with “M.” Photography is his craft, more
specifically skateboard photography, and for fifteen years he’s
captured the leaps and bounds of the most respected names in
skateboarding, names like Hawk, Koston, Burnquist, and Alex Klein.
Though shooting
for publications like “Transworld Skateboarding” and “ID” keeps him
busy, O’Meally also finds time for personal projects, most recently a
black and white documentation of young amateur boxers. In the rare
instance that he’s not behind the lens, Mr. O’Meally enjoys fine
dining, vintage wines, attending the opera, and chopping down trees
with his bare hands. And if he can fit all four into one evening, then
all the better.
